Alan Brass

Alan Brass received his Law Degree from the University of Ottawa in 1990 and was called to the Bar in 1992. He also holds a Master's Degree in Political Science and previously worked for a Federal Crown Corporation.

Since then, Alan has practiced criminal law, championing the rights and interests of accused persons. Alan has taught at Carleton University's Law Program, instructed the Criminal Law component at the Bar Admission Course, and guest lectured at the University of Ottawa Law School.

He has addressed medical-legal issues to medical interns and residents, judged Moot Court competitions, and has served as Special Prosecutor for Elections Canada.

Alan actively volunteers in community associations and has spoken to service organizations, seniors' groups, and secondary school students about criminal law.


Shira Brass

Shira Brass completed her Juris Doctor at Dalhousie University's Schulich School of Law in 2015 and was called to the bar in June 2016. She holds an honours undergraduate degree in Sociology with a focus in criminology from Queen's University.

Prior to law school, Shira worked on Parliament Hill as a Parliamentary Assistant. During law school, she interned with Legal Aid Nova Scotia's Criminal Law division, participated in the Judge's Weekly Clerkship Program at the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, and founded the Business Law Association of Dalhousie.

Shira has successfully conducted trials and motions in Superior Court and in Provincial Court. She volunteers with disadvantaged youth and at-risk populations, and sits on the Board of Directors for the Tamir Foundation and the Bora Laskin Law Society.
